The other day I had a go at making lipbalm for the first time. I'd seen a lot of ideas and tutorials on Pinterest so decided to have a go. In this post I'm going to show you 3 methods to making your own lip balm. The first one is the easiest simply because you'll probably have the stuff to make it at home the other 2 have are just as easy but you may have to buy in some of the stuff like I did. (Note, none of the items were expensive and could be sourced on ebay if you can't find them in the shops.) METHOD 1. This is the simplest and quickest way to make your own lip balm. Put 1 tsp of vaseline and some shavings of eyeshadow, blush or lipstick into a mircowave proof bowl. (You can mix colours - I used some old blush and a pale shimmery eyeshadow to make mine). Pop into the mircowave for about 30secs on a med/high heat. Take out and stir (put back in for another 15-30secs if its not completly melted). Once mixed, pour or spoon into an empty container with a lid (I got my little pots from ebay, but and craft shop should sell them or use an old mint tin). Allow to cool and set for at least an hour. METHOD 2. So this is simular to the first in the method but you can be experimental with the oils and flavourings that suit you. I didn't use any colour in this one but that doesnt mean you can't. Combine and mircowave for 30 secs or until melted and repeat as before. METHOD 3. Again, method is the same as the others. Bees wax is amazing stuff and can be used for so many things around the home. By adding this makes the balm more set and less gloss more matte.
I spend an afternoon making these and you really can't go to wring with this. Half the fun of it is experimenting and seeing what you like best. These little lip balms would make great presents, wedding favours or just a good way of reusing old make up. Go on - have a go! x
